On our way out of Bursa on our last morning, we drove up into Uludağ, a mountain near Bursa that is a bit more than 8,000 feet above sea level. Up the mountain is a very old tree called the İnkaya Historical Tree (İnkaya Tarihi Çınar Ağacı). The tree is over 600 years old, 37 m tall, 53 m crown diameter, and has a 10 m circumference. It is massive! The branches stretched out really far and some had to be supported by metal bars.
It was cold and rainy when we went, but in nice weather there is lovely outdoor sitting areas and a cafe/shop. The little village area looked cute too.
We drove right up to the tree and there was a small parking lot right there. However, in busier times, you’d need to park down the hill a little bit at a bigger parking lot. The road from the main road up to the tree is very narrow and winding. It would be hard if you encountered a car going the other way!
It was about a 12 min drive up the mountain from our AirBnb and worth it even for a quick visit. I love massive, old trees! It would be even better on a sunny, warm morning!
